You must have most definitely heard, read or come across this quote at some point in your life. It may be very simple, but the positive vibe it brings out is not recognized by all. The words that I’d like to highlight in this famous quote by Coco Chanel are ‘BEAUTY’ & ‘YOURSELF’

See, now it’s very clear right? You Are Beautiful! 💕

1000 Ways to Boost Self-esteem & Self-Love 🙊

Okay, okay!  I know you guys have heard these and some of you may have actually taken time and read through the 1000 crazy ways to boost *draws invisible quotation marks in the air* self-confidence.

WAIT- did you really manage to read all thousand? Wow, that definitely needs a whole lot of perseverance! 🌟

Fear not, for this post is not going to be one of those usual posts you’ve read. Nah-ahh! This post is from a girl who has learned to embrace the glorious mess that she is…and if you are wondering who she is, well, it’s yours truly!

Okay! So here’s a question.

Could you name all the things you love?

Yes, you! Come on name ‘em…

Mom, Dad, pet dog, flowers, books, oh…oh… him!!!

That was good. But how long did it take you to name yourself?

Did you even name yourself?

Oh you did! Bravo, you are on the right track!

Don’t worry if you didn’t mention your name at all. I can help you out!

All you need is Self-Love.

What the heck does Self-Love mean? Are you talking about taking a shower, going in for manicures and pedicures, you may ask? There is so much more to Self-Love that just pampering ourselves.

It’s to love yourself, treat yourself by deciding what you will and won’t accept. Make yourself proud.

So here are a few ways you can go about doing this:

  • Smile

1 (2)

Yeah, it’s as simple as that. Just stand in front of the mirror every morning as you wake up and just smile. Smiling releases endorphin and makes you feel better even if it is faked. Take one more step and go ahead, greet yourself. Say ‘good morning beautiful’ or anything sweet. It could even be ‘oh what a hot mess you are!’ Always keep smiling when you see your reflection on a mirror or even on a store window! Trust me, this helps.

TIP: Smiling is 69% more attractive than wearing make-up. 😉

  • Write a letter to yourself

Well, this is a fun thing to do. Nothing allows for more thought and expression than writing a letter.💌 In this era of texting and email it might be difficult to sit down with a pen and paper and write something leave alone getting the spellings right! 😉 But once you start writing down the things that made you feel happy and special you’d become more comfortable with who you are on the inside.

TIP: On a slip of paper write down the day to day things that made you feel happy, fold up the paper and put it in a decorated mason jar. Whenever you feel like you need a pick-me-up, you could read pull out a slip and read a happy memory.

  • Make time to do what you love

Investing time for yourself is the key to self-love. Make time for leisure and hobbies. It could be just the extra 5 min you snooze your morning alarm or need to light some candles and sip some coffee ☕, just do it! Take time off for an appointment at your favorite spa💆 💇 💅, give your body the rest and comfort that it needs. Sit down with a bowl of popcorn and watch your favorite TV show; take a long, hot shower. It’s a matter of realizing that there’s nothing selfish about self-care. Like dancing? But you feel awkward to dance in front of people? Lock yourself up in your room and dance till your ankles ache, girl! It’s what you love doing after all.

Just couldn’t resist sharing this gif!! 😍

  • Unplug your technology

Thanks or NO Thanks to Social media that keeps us connected these days and updates us with what everyone else is doing, while here we are losing the perception of how real life is. In fact, it could, at most times, make you feel lonely and give you unrealistic comparisons of other people’s lives! Unplugging from social media would remind you that you should live the moment and not just capture and caption a better image of your life than others. Rather spend more time on yourself, friends 👭 and family 👪 who would help you love yourself more. Surround yourself with people who love and encourage you. Let them remind you just how amazing you are.

  • Mess up a little bit

We often hear people say ‘But I want my life to be PERFECT’  Don’t we all? Perfection seems to be the desired dress size we all strive to fit into, no matter how tight or uncomfortable. Everything needn’t be perfect. In fact nothing can be perfect. Flaws are beautiful too! 🎀 It’s really okay if you mess things a little bit, you can always learn from the mistakes. Never expect a perfect outcome from everything. Step outside of your comfort zone and try something new. The feeling we get when we realize we have achieved something we didn’t know or think we could do before is truly incredible. Pat yourself on the back and be proud of what you have achieved.

  • Love your body

1 (4)

Spend time focusing on what your body needs. Treating your body will not only boost your self-love, but also your energy. Love your imperfectly perfect self. Don’t let any of those Photoshopped magazines make you feel like your body isn’t perfect. And you know what?  Even those models don’t look like that in real life! 😉

  • STOP comparing.

“Comparison is the thief of joy.” – Teddy Roosevelt

We’ve all done it. It can be really hard not to compare our own lives to that of others. There is no one on this planet like you, so you cannot fairly compare yourself to someone else. The only person you should compare yourself to is you.

  • Admire someone else’s beauty without questioning your own

This is the most beautiful quality one can inculcate within themselves. When you start admiring, appreciating and being kinder to others you start to think of yourself in a kinder way too. It magically makes you happier. It makes us feel better about ourselves when we treat others the way we hope to be treated. Okay, so not everyone will repay the favor, but come on- its their problem not yours! You see your friend wearing bold lip color that suits her skin tone perfectly but doesn’t work for you, and she looks really, really pretty!  Tell her ‘Hey, you know what? That lip color looks fab on you.’                                                            It’s that simple!

Learn to love yourself first, instead of loving the idea of other people loving you. ❤

And remember, if you don’t love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?  -Rupaul

If you’re still learning to love yourself, it’s really OK. There are lots of people out there, who are still learning to love themselves, so don’t ever think you’re alone. You are beautiful, you are smart and you are funny. There is only one of you and you’re perfect.✨

All you need is a little SELF-LOVE!
